Freight Trains that passed through Tuakau between
9:30 and 11:30am on 7/1/09.
Train 1-DXR 8022 rounds the curve with MP7 heading for
Mount Maunganui at 9:36am.
Train 2-DX 5016 heads through southbound with train 183
at 10:31am.
Train 3-DFT 7282 leads 228 north at 10:40am.
Train 4-DC 4571 and DFB 7173 empty coal train 141 south
towards Huntly from Mission Bush at 11 o'clock.
Train 5-DXR 8007 heads north with MP8 and empty IM wagons
for Southdown at 11:09am.
I would have edited this further but my software was
playing up.

Nevada Northern Railway Steam Locomotive 93 Returns to Steam

The ALCO Consolidation received by The NNRY in 1909
returns to steam in time for it's 100th birthday. this
video covers the steam trials on Dec 28 and 29, 2008 as
well as archival footage from photo freights. Also
includes voice commentary by Mark Bassett, Director of
the railroad. Engine #93 will be the star of Nevada
Northern's 2009 Photo Freight, space still available.

The Penn Central was a railroad suspended in
financial limbo when Emery Gulash shot these scenes in
the mid-1970s. Bankrupt since 1970, the re-organization
court had decided in May 1974 that, based on its income,
the PC was not re-organizable. The future of the PC and a
number of other bankrupt railroads in the Northeast was
placed in the hands of a government agency, the United
States Railway Association.
The middle of the decade was the worst of times for the
PC. It may not have been the best of times for the
trackside observers watching the Penn Centrals trains in
