On November 22, 2008, the National Fatwa Council
announced that Yoga is 'haram' in Islam and in one fell
swoop, Muslims will no longer be allowed to practice it
-- once it is gazetted as law.
Yoga attracted what is arguably, unwarranted attention
from no less than the NFC as a result of an opinion from
an Islamic scholar that Yoga, could be 'haram' in Islam
because it could cause Muslims to deviate from his or her
faith.
This decision drew criticisms from Muslim and non-Muslim
practitioners who have felt real physical and mental
benefits of Yoga through its physical exercise and
meditat

Falun Gong Book Put on Russian Black List

In our top story today: Members of a spiritual group
that's brutally persecuted in China are facing increasing
levels of discrimination in Russia, and it's from their
own government.
STORY:
On December 23, the Russian Ministry of Justice added
several books to its list of what it calls "extremist
publications."
Among them is the Russian edition of a book called Zhuan
Falun, the main text of the Falun Gong spiritual
practice. The book outlines the tenets of Falun Gong,
which is also called Falun Dafa.

Secret Trial Exposed by Hong Kong Family

mainland China after a secret trial and faces 6 years in
prison. The victim's family says the secret inquest is a
serious human rights abuse and they will seek support for
his rescue.

practitioner from Hong Kong who has been missing since
April of last year. He was travelling to China to visit
his father in Shenzhen a province across the strait from
