amoureux de sa servante Lisette. Un soir, échangeant ses
atours pour ceux de Lisette, Magda se rend au bal "Chez
Bullier", où elle s'éprend du jeune étudiant Ruggiero.
Ils vivent ensemble une idylle sur la Côte d'Azur, mais
lorsque celui-ci la demande en mariage, Madga est prise
de remords...

Erika Pauwels, lyric soprano
I've had the good fortune recently of getting to know the
recordings of soprano Erika Pauwels, courtesy of the
Belgian Radio and Television archives. She was apparently
well-known during the 1960s and 70s in her native
Belgium, both as a stage and radio performer, although it
seems she made relatively few appearances outside of her
homeland. Her singing is quite polished, memorable, and
deserving of a wider audience, however, so I thought this
video might make a worthwhile addition to the Youtube
community.
